USDG and GUSD Price in INR: Can You Buy Them in India?
What Global Dollar (USDG) and Gemini Dollar (GUSD) are, their live price in INR, who issues them, and whether Indians can buy or trade them locally.
Most Indians who buy a dollar stablecoin buy USDT, and sometimes USDC. Two smaller names also show up in searches: USDG (Global Dollar) and GUSD (Gemini Dollar). Both aim to stay worth exactly one US dollar, but they differ a lot in size, backing and where you can trade them. Here is what each one is, its price in rupees, and how, or whether, you can get it from India.
Key takeaways
- USDG is issued by Paxos, is regulated in Singapore and the EU, and is worth about $3 billion. It is backed 1:1 by cash and short-term US Treasuries.
- GUSD is issued by Gemini Trust Company under New York regulation. It is much smaller, at about $40 million, and has been shrinking.
- Both trade at about $1, so their INR price tracks the dollar rate. USDG is ₹95.98 and GUSD is ₹95.83 right now.
- We found no Indian FIU-registered exchange listing either coin for INR. Binance does not list USDG for spot trading.
- For most Indian users, USDT or USDC on a registered exchange is simpler and more liquid.
What is USDG (Global Dollar)?
Global Dollar (USDG) launched on 1 November 2024. It is issued by Paxos, the company behind the Pax Dollar and the gold token PAXG. Its Singapore entity is supervised by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), and since mid-2025 a Finnish entity has issued it in the European Union under the MiCA rules.
- Backing: every USDG is backed 1:1 by US dollar cash and short-term US Treasury bills, held in separate accounts. An independent firm checks the reserves every month.
- Global Dollar Network: USDG's unusual feature is that partners share the interest earned on the reserves. Founding members included Kraken, Robinhood, Galaxy Digital, Anchorage Digital, Bullish and Nuvei, and card networks such as Mastercard joined later.
- Blockchains: USDG runs on Solana (where most of the supply sits), Ethereum, Arbitrum and several newer chains.
- Size: a market value of about $3.2 billion, far behind USDT and USDC.
In the US, the GENIUS Act stablecoin law, signed in July 2025, takes full effect by January 2027 at the latest. Paxos holds a US national trust bank charter and says it expects to qualify as a permitted issuer.
What is GUSD (Gemini Dollar)?
Gemini Dollar (GUSD) is one of the older regulated stablecoins, launched in 2018 by Gemini, the exchange founded by the Winklevoss twins. It is issued by Gemini Trust Company, which is regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services.
- Backing: US dollars held at US banks, with monthly reports from an accounting firm.
- Size: only about $40 million in circulation, and falling. At least one exchange delisted it in 2026 for low activity.
- Where it trades: mainly on Gemini itself and some decentralised exchanges.
Gemini has cut back its international business, leaving the UK, EU and Australia in early 2026. We have seen no announcement that GUSD itself is closing. One more thing to watch: some exchanges run their own unrelated products called "GUSD", so check the issuer before you buy anything with that ticker.

Can you buy USDG or GUSD in India?
As of September 2026, we could not find either coin on an FIU-registered Indian exchange with an INR pair. Binance, which is registered in India, says USDG is not listed for spot trading, though its Web3 wallet can swap to it on decentralised exchanges. USDG is available on Kraken, OKX and Bullish, among others, but check whether a platform is registered with FIU-IND before you use it. Unregistered offshore exchanges can be blocked in India at short notice.
If you do want USDG, the usual route from India is to buy USDT or USDC on a registered exchange, move it to your own wallet, and swap it for USDG on a decentralised exchange on Solana or Ethereum. That adds network fees, swap costs and the risk of sending funds to the wrong address or a fake token contract. Only use the official contract address from the issuer's website.
Tax is the same as for any crypto: 30% on any gain when you sell or swap, plus 1% TDS on transfers above the yearly threshold. A stablecoin rarely makes a profit in dollars, but because you buy and sell in rupees, a weaker rupee can still leave you with a taxable gain.
Which dollar stablecoin should Indians use?
For buying, selling and moving money between Indian exchanges, USDT has by far the deepest INR markets, and USDC is the main regulated alternative. USDG is interesting for its regulated issuer and reserve-sharing model, but it has little reach in India so far, and GUSD is too small to matter for most users. Our explainer on USDT vs USDC vs DAI covers the trade-offs, and how to buy USDT in India walks through the safe way to buy.

No. USDG is issued by Paxos. USDC is issued by Circle. Both are dollar-backed stablecoins, but they are separate tokens.
