These are the five crypto platforms we would shortlist for an Indian user today. Every one is registered with FIU-IND, takes rupees by UPI or bank transfer and deducts the 1% TDS for you. We ranked them on five tests: registration, how rupees get in and out, total cost, security record and range of products. We are not paid by any of them.
The most complete Indian platform: INR spot, INR-margined futures, options on BTC, ETH and SOL, SIPs from ₹100 and staking in one app. It was hacked for about $44 million in July 2025, but the loss hit its own operational wallet and customers paid nothing. Coinbase invested in October 2025.

India’s largest crypto app by users (2.5 crore+, company figure) and the easiest for a first purchase. Its March 2026 proof of reserves showed about ₹2,360 crore held against ₹1,747 crore of customer balances. The trade-off: coins cannot be withdrawn to your own wallet.

India’s oldest exchange, running since 2014 with no major hack on record. Good for cautious, long-term Bitcoin buyers and SIPs. The 0.45% base fee and a monthly inactivity fee make it costly for small or idle accounts.

WazirX has the cheapest plan for frequent traders (₹99 a month for zero trading fees) and reopened in October 2025, but users lost about 15% of their holdings in the 2024 hack and waited over a year for the rest. Binance is FIU-registered and has the deepest liquidity, but rupees go in and out only through P2P trades, which carries a risk of bank account freezes. Both are in our top 10 crypto exchanges in India.
All five run on Android, iPhone and in a web browser on PC; see crypto apps for Android, iPhone and PC. Whatever you choose, the tax is the same: 30% on profits and 1% TDS on sales (calculator). Not sure which coins to buy? See the top 5 cryptocurrencies in India.
Our top 5 for Indian users in 2026 are CoinDCX, CoinSwitch, ZebPay, Mudrex and Delta Exchange. All are registered with FIU-IND, take rupees by UPI or bank transfer and deduct the 1% TDS automatically.
By users, CoinSwitch says it is the largest, with more than 2.5 crore registered users. By range of products, CoinDCX leads, with spot, INR futures, options, SIPs and staking. The best one for you depends on what you want to do.
For active INR trading, CoinDCX offers spot, INR-margined futures and options in one app. For options at low fees, Delta Exchange. For frequent spot trading on a budget, WazirX’s ₹99 monthly plan removes per-trade fees.
Yes. All five are registered with FIU-IND. Buying, selling and holding crypto is legal in India, though crypto is not legal tender and profits are taxed at 30%.
