Registration is the legal minimum, not a recommendation. FIU-IND keeps adding and blocking platforms: 25 offshore platforms were ordered blocked in October 2025 and 15 more apps in September 2026. Check any name yourself with our FIU-registered exchanges guide.
Most Indians are best served by one of the first five, which take rupees directly and handle TDS for you. Our reasons are in the top 5 crypto exchanges in India. Offshore exchanges (Binance, KuCoin) make sense only for experienced users who need coins Indian apps do not list, and who are comfortable with P2P and doing more of their own tax paperwork.

Several dozen virtual digital asset service providers are registered with FIU-IND, including Indian exchanges and offshore ones such as Binance, KuCoin and Bybit. The official list is on fiuindia.gov.in.
Yes. Both are registered with FIU-IND after paying penalties for serving Indians without registration. Rupees go in and out mainly through P2P, so check who you trade with and keep records for tax.
Treat any platform that is not registered with FIU-IND, skips KYC, promises fixed returns or asks you to pay a personal UPI ID as unsafe. Registered exchanges can still be hacked, so keep long-term holdings in your own wallet.
