Coinbase is one of CoinDCX’s investors, and since June 2026 the two compete directly for Indian rupee traders. Both are FIU-registered and deduct TDS, but they differ a lot on products and fees.
CoinDCX is the better everyday choice in India today: UPI deposits, published fees, SIPs, INR futures and options. Coinbase appeals if you want a US-listed company with audited accounts behind your exchange, and don’t mind a newer, still-maturing India service.

CoinDCX takes UPI and IMPS/NEFT. Coinbase launched INR deposits by IMPS on 1 June 2026, with no deposit fee, and its help page now also lists UPI and NEFT/RTGS; the rollout was gradual.
CoinDCX offers 500+ coins, INR- and USDT-margined futures, INR options, SIPs from ₹100 and staking, with a published tiered fee schedule. Coinbase offers spot on an INR order book and perpetual futures with USDC margin; it has no public India fee table, and simple buys include a spread.
CoinDCX lost about $44 million from an internal wallet in July 2025 and covered it, and publishes monthly proof of reserves. Coinbase has had no theft of customer crypto, but a May 2025 data breach exposed 69,461 customers; it publishes audited quarterly accounts rather than a Merkle proof of reserves.
