Nobody can predict Polygon's price in 2030, but market-cap maths gives a sensible range. On our assumptions POL, the token that replaced MATIC, could be worth roughly ₹4.30 to ₹8.50 in a bear case, ₹17 to ₹34 in a base case and ₹68 to ₹128 in a bull case, against about ₹10.49 per POL at 15:52 UTC on 3 October 2026. These are scenarios, not predictions. ₹100 per POL would need Polygon to be worth about $11.7 billion in 2030, which only our bull case reaches. The live POL price in INR is ₹10.43 right now.

Key takeaways

  • At 15:52 UTC on 3 October 2026 POL was about $0.1089 (₹10.49), with a market cap near $1.16 billion on about 10.62 billion POL.
  • MATIC was upgraded to POL one for one on 4 September 2024. As MATIC, the token peaked at about $2.92 on 27 December 2021; POL is about 96% below that.
  • POL started with 10 billion tokens and adds about 2% a year in new supply, but 100 million POL (about 1%) were burned on 23 September 2026, with more burns planned.
  • Polygon was founded in India in 2017. Co-founder Sandeep Nailwal has led the Polygon Foundation as CEO since June 2025.
  • Our 2030 range runs from a $0.5 billion to a $15 billion market cap. Gains are taxed at 30% plus cess in India, with 1% TDS and no loss set-off.

From MATIC to POL: what changed

If you are searching for a MATIC price prediction, this is the page you need. On 4 September 2024 Polygon upgraded its main network so that POL replaced MATIC as the token used for gas fees and staking on Polygon PoS. The swap was one MATIC for one POL. Holders on Polygon PoS were switched automatically, while MATIC held on Ethereum or on exchanges was converted through a migration contract or by the exchange. Polygon's documentation notes that migrated MATIC is held in the contract rather than burned, and that a reverse migration exists under governance control.

If you still hold old MATIC on an Indian exchange, check whether it has already been shown as POL in your app; most platforms converted balances themselves. More data is on our POL coin page.

Polygon's Indian founders

Polygon is one of the best-known crypto projects to come out of India. It began as Matic Network in 2017, founded by Indian engineers Jaynti Kanani, Sandeep Nailwal and Anurag Arjun, with Mihailo Bjelic as the fourth co-founder, and was renamed Polygon in February 2021. It grew into a major network for scaling Ethereum, with lower fees and faster transactions.

The founding team has since changed. Kanani and Arjun left around 2023, and Bjelic stepped down on 23 May 2025. In June 2025 Sandeep Nailwal became the first CEO of the Polygon Foundation, taking direct control of the project's direction. For Indian investors the founders' story is interesting, but it is not a reason on its own to buy: what matters for POL is how much the network is used and how supply changes.

POL supply: emissions and the 100 million burn

POL began with 10 billion tokens, matching MATIC's supply. New POL is minted every year, about 2% under the rules set at launch: roughly half goes to validators as staking rewards and half to a community treasury for grants and growth. Governance can change or end these emissions, and community members have proposed doing so, but the 2% schedule was still running in 2026. That is why supply has grown from 10 billion to about 10.62 billion.

Burns now push the other way. On 23 September 2026, 100 million POL, about 1% of supply, were burned for good. The tokens came from base fees that users had paid on Polygon PoS, which had built up in a fee collector contract, and the burn was triggered through a permissionless contract. Further burns are planned roughly every quarter as more fees accumulate. Read our report on the 100 million POL burn for the details.

Putting these together, we assume about 11.3 billion POL at the end of 2030, growing about 1.5% a year after burns. If emissions were cut or fee burns grew much larger, supply could even shrink, which would lift every price below.

What else drives POL

  • Payments focus: the Rio upgrade went live on 8 October 2025, lifting Polygon PoS to about 5,000 transactions per second with near-instant finality and no chain reorganisations, aimed at payments and tokenised assets.
  • Acquisitions: in January 2026 Polygon Labs agreed to buy Coinme, a US cash-to-crypto company, and Sequence, a wallet and infrastructure firm, in deals worth more than $250 million, to build what it calls the Open Money Stack.
  • Stablecoins and tokenised funds: Polygon carries large stablecoin volumes and hosts tokenised products, including Franklin Templeton's on-chain money fund. More activity means more fees to burn.
  • The wider market: POL usually moves with Ethereum and Bitcoin and tends to fall further in downturns. Track Ethereum on our Ethereum price in INR page.

How we build the 2030 scenarios

We use the same method as our Bitcoin price prediction 2030 in INR and Ethereum price prediction 2030 in INR: choose a plausible total value for the network, divide it by the expected supply, and convert to rupees.

  1. Supply: about 11.3 billion POL at the end of 2030, up from 10.62 billion.
  2. Exchange rate: ₹96.37 to the dollar, the rate at 15:52 UTC on 3 October 2026.
  3. Market cap: the real guess. Each scenario says what would have to happen for Polygon to be worth that much.

Worked example: a $3 billion market cap divided by 11.3 billion POL gives about $0.266 per POL, or about ₹25.60 at ₹96.37 to the dollar.

Polygon price prediction 2026 to 2030 in INR

Each cell gives the POL price in rupees at the end of the year and, in brackets, the market cap that price implies. These are scenario paths, not forecasts.

Year endPOL supply (assumed)Bear caseBase caseBull case
202610.66 billion₹7.23 ($0.8B)₹10.80 ($1.2B)₹14.50 ($1.6B)
202710.82 billion₹4.45 ($0.5B)₹14.30 ($1.6B)₹31.20 ($3.5B)
202810.98 billion₹5.27 ($0.6B)₹18.40 ($2.1B)₹52.70 ($6B)
202911.14 billion₹6.06 ($0.7B)₹22.50 ($2.6B)₹77.90 ($9B)
203011.3 billion₹5.97 ($0.7B)₹25.60 ($3B)₹102 ($12B)

The bear path falls in 2027 because crypto has often had a weak year after a strong run, as in 2018 and 2022. The base path takes Polygon to about two and a half times today's value by 2030. The bull path makes it worth about $12 billion, below Dogecoin's value today, and crosses ₹100 per POL in 2030.

Polygon price prediction 2030: three scenarios

ScenarioMarket cap in 2030POL price (USD)POL price (INR at ₹96.37)
Bear$0.5 to $1 billion~$0.044 to $0.089~₹4.30 to ₹8.50
Base$2 to $4 billion~$0.177 to $0.354~₹17 to ₹34
Bull$8 to $15 billion~$0.71 to $1.33~₹68 to ₹128
  • Bear case: Ethereum's other layer-2 networks and fast rival chains keep taking users, payment deals stay small, emissions continue and POL slides further down the rankings.
  • Base case: Polygon's payments push and acquisitions bring steady volume, quarterly burns offset part of the emissions, and POL recovers to two or three times today's value.
  • Bull case: Polygon becomes a leading network for stablecoin payments, burns outpace emissions, and a strong cycle lifts POL back above $1.

Can POL reach ₹100? The market-cap maths

Market cap = price × circulating supply. Using about 10.62 billion POL and ₹96.37 to the dollar on 3 October 2026:

POL price (INR)Rise needed from ~₹10.49Market cap today (INR)Market cap today (USD)With 2030 supply (USD)
₹20~1.9x~₹21,200 crore~$2.2 billion~$2.4 billion
₹50~4.8x~₹53,100 crore~$5.5 billion~$5.9 billion (about NEAR today)
₹100~9.5x~₹1.1 lakh crore~$11 billion~$11.7 billion
₹250~24x~₹2.7 lakh crore~$27.6 billion~$29.3 billion
₹1,000~95x~₹10.6 lakh crore~$110 billion~$117 billion (more than XRP today)

₹100 per POL is about $1.04, roughly a third of MATIC's 2021 peak price. It needs about $11.7 billion in 2030, close to ten times Polygon's value today but inside our bull range of $8 billion to $15 billion. So ₹100 is a stretch target that needs a strong cycle and real growth in use. Getting back to the old $2.92 high would need about $33 billion with 2030's supply, beyond our bull case, and ₹1,000 per POL is out of reach on any sensible view.

The rupee effect

POL is priced in dollars, so a weaker rupee lifts its rupee price even if nothing else changes. If the rupee slid to about ₹105 to the dollar by 2030, every rupee figure here would be about 9% higher: the base case would become roughly ₹18.60 to ₹37.20. This is an illustration, not a currency forecast; check today's rate on our USD to INR page.

What ₹10,000 and ₹1 lakh in POL could become

At about ₹10.49 per POL, ₹10,000 buys about 953 POL and ₹1 lakh buys about 9,528 POL before fees. Here is what those holdings would be worth at the 2030 point values above, leaving out staking rewards:

2030 scenario (market cap)₹10,000 becomesAfter 31.2% tax₹1 lakh becomesAfter 31.2% tax
Bear (₹5.97, $0.7B)₹5,688₹5,688 (loss, no tax)₹56,884₹56,884 (loss, no tax)
Base (₹25.60, $3B)₹24,379₹19,893₹2,43,789₹1,98,927
Bull (₹102, $12B)₹97,516₹70,211₹9,75,158₹7,02,109

Tax is 30% plus 4% cess on the gain. A bear-case loss cannot be set off against salary or other crypto gains. Staking rewards are taxed when received; see crypto staking and tax in India. Try your own amounts in the POL investment calculator.

Risks to weigh before buying

  • Deep drawdown: POL is about 96% below MATIC's 2021 peak, and holders who bought then are still far behind.
  • Emissions: about 2% new supply a year means Polygon's value must grow just to keep the price steady, unless burns grow faster.
  • Competition: Ethereum's layer-2 networks, Solana and other fast chains compete hard for the same users and payment deals.
  • Leadership changes: three of the four co-founders have left, and strategy now rests heavily on one leader.
  • Rupee and tax: a stronger rupee would cut returns, and the 30% tax with no loss set-off reduces what you keep.

Buying POL and tax in India

POL is listed on many exchanges that serve India, usually against INR or USDT; search "POL" rather than "MATIC". Our guide on how to buy POL in India covers the steps. When you withdraw, pick the right network (Polygon PoS or Ethereum), because sending on the wrong one can lose funds. Crypto is legal in India but not legal tender, and exchanges serving Indians must register with FIU-IND, so check the FIU-registered exchanges list first.

When you sell, gains are taxed at a flat 30% plus 4% cess under the rules introduced as Section 115BBH, with no deduction except what you paid. 1% TDS applies to sales above ₹50,000 a year for specified persons (₹10,000 for others) and counts towards your final tax. Losses cannot be set off or carried forward, and trades go in Schedule VDA of your ITR. Our crypto tax in India guide and crypto tax calculator cover the details.
